NZ Speedway superstar Michael Pickens is packing his bags for Sydney this weekend with the sole aim of racing a Sprintcar in the fifth round of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship Chase on Saturday night.
Pickens will saddle up in the Sid Moore owned #95 Century Batteries entry prepped and spannered by Michael's good mate and Speedcar car owner Brett Morris.
"Slim's (Michael) wanted to race a Sprintcar here for some time," explains Morris, "I'm certain that if could put a program together over here for next year he'd look at it."
Sydney fans are well aware of the raw talent that the Kiwi oozes having seen him win the 2016 Australian Speedcar Championship at Valvoline Raceway (one of the races of the decade) and wheel a Late Model with serious adaptability for Bruce MacKenzie.
There's little he can't wield, on clay or bitumen ovals.
There's also talk that Pickens will return at the end of the month for the Speedcar Super Series final on April 22 and the Ballistic by Berklee Speedcar 50-Lapper on April 29.
This Saturday night however, April 1, fans will relish the chance to see Pickens saddle up with a wing.
"This is a very good car," explains Morris, "we've done a lot of work on it and he's going to really enjoy the ride. I hope this is the start of seeing him more regularly in Sydney."
