The ground pounding Late Model sedans will face a double dose of Valvoline Raceway action this Saturday night with not one but two main events scheduled around the 460m clayway.
When their main event was unfortunately cancelled due to a serious Sprintcar crash on October 14 the Late Models were given an opportunity to ‘double up’ on the November 4 event and teams have jumped at the chance to put their cars and themselves to the absolute limit.
High flying Sydney businessman Bruce Mackenzie makes his 2017 debut to add some spice to the 17-car line up and being one of the most improved drivers in the class last season he’ll be pumped to come back in time for the double deal.
Somehow squeezing his racing program in between all of his international commitments with his thriving Time Target business Mackenzie raced briefly in the USA earlier this year before handing ‘the keys’ to his mate and handy Queensland racer Rodney Pammenter for the rest of the swing.
There are several drivers looking to top opening round feature winner Ryan Fenech including first night arch-rival Clayton Pyne, Sydney veteran Darryl Grimson, Sydney quiet achiever David Doherty, the often surprising Hickey clan Dean, Michael and Katelyn, livewire newcomer Brad Giffen, Newcastle family racer Tim Bink and Sydney gun Ben Nicastri to name a few.

Recently Australia cemented its position as a major superpower in the world of Legend Car racing with several of our Aussies wreaking havoc and winning the biggest dirt Legend Car events in the USA.
Winning a main event at Valvoline Raceway in Legend competition is never an easy option and this Saturday’s line-up is further evidence of how tough it really is with 38 cars entered.

Speedcars return Saturday night with Bungendore second generation hard charger Michael Stewart aiming to continue his three-win streak and get into some rare air if he’s able to achieve this.
Attempting to cut short that remarkable victory run will be a range of Sydney veterans and newcomers alike including the always hectic veteran Darren Jenkins, the always quick and often successful Matt Jackson, the much-improved Robert Mackay who scored a well deserved podium finish in his last start here and electrifying youngsters Reagan Angel and Kaidon Brown to name only a couple.
More nominations may well be received in addition to the below list before Saturday.

Saturday night will see the return of the crowd-pleasing Fender Benders in an emotional return to the venue for the first time since the recent sudden passing of one of it’s favourite sons in Chris Chaffey.
“Chaff” will be sadly missed when the mighty Benders roll up for action this year with one of the crowd favourites “the Big Red Car” being driven by his daughter.
For the first time this season the Formula 500’s make their appearance and after some of the racing they put on last year many are excited about the action from the pocket rockets.
This Saturday’s action will kick off at 4.40pm with the first Legend Car heat race. Gates open at 2pm. Valvoline Raceway is located at 21 Wentworth Street Clyde. Phone: (02) 9637 0411.
