Muswellbrook USC Sprintcar racer Andrew Wright returns to active driving duty at Valvoline Raceway this Saturday night after a lengthy absence due to an injury sustained on January 5 this year in Brisbane.
Since then it's been a frustrating view from the sidelines from the hard charging racer.
"It feels like so much longer since I raced," Wright explains, "provided I don't have any little niggles overnight I'll be ready to rock tomorrow night. I can't wait."
The talented wheeler and father of two has raced with distinction in Litre Cars, Speedcars and most recently Sprintcars.
Wife Hollie is supportive of Andrew's desire to get back behind the wheel as it's been his passion for well over twenty years.
"Injuries in this sport can be hard on you, but even harder on your family," explains the 40 year old project manager, "I'm grateful for my wife and kids for understanding that this is what I want to do, and it's what I love."
Andrew has been racing Sprintcars for 13 years and over the last few has been spent on the road with the gruelling WSS schedule and consistent appearances at Valvoline Raceway Parramatta.
This season the warpaint has changed for Andrew with Eliminator Race Wings coming on board and the #78 Maxim looks cherry.
"I'm really grateful for the Cross Family for their support this season," says Wright, "with Jeremy not racing this season I'm really grateful for them to shift their focus towards our little team and giving us a hand. It means a lot."
Wright makes his first racing appearance since January tomorrow night and is keen to feel his way back into the waters.
Danny Reidy returns with a new car after his frightening crash a fortnight ago and the affable Territory born Queensland domiciled VR main event winner is keen strap into the new car he's built this week.
This Saturday’s action will kick off at 4.40pm with the first Lightning Sprint heat race.
Street Stocks are also on the program.
Sprintcar qualifying commences at 6.08pm.
The Australian Demolition Derby Title is scheduled to start at 9.46pm.
